Samman Association

Awareness

Raising awareness and reducing stigma is necessary to improve the quality of life of people with epilepsy. We specifically target school children of standards 8 & 9 as they would be our future employers and parents and are open to new ideas and thinking. We also raise awareness at public places especially during the national epilepsy week. At the same time we are targeting people with epilepsy and caregivers with programs at hospitals (see posts on home page).

Publications

At our awareness programs we distribute epilepsy cards or hand out brochures. We also have two small books Epilepsy Simple Facts and Conquering Epilepsy.

If you would like a member of our Association to conduct an awareness program

at a school, college or office send an email to  ecellin@yahoo.co.in

Kindly conduct a program on the awareness of Epilepsy and learning disabilities in my son’s school St.pius xth high school Mulund west. My son has a learning disability where i have not got support from the school as expected. Inspite of giving govt certificate to the school for disability, my son was detained.

I will see what I can do. Can you send us the full name and address of the school, name of principal, email address, telephone numbers etc. Also when does the school reopen. Does your son have epilepsy too?

Great to see this site going strong!

On the ‘Awareness’ front, I’m sure there’s still a lot to be done — it’s an unending task.

Perhaps it might help to put up pdf versions of Epilepsy Simple Facts and Conquering Epilepsy for free download, if there are no copyright issues.

Also, I think it would be a great idea for Ecell to produce a video clip explaining the facts about epilepsy and advising lay people what to do (and not do) in an emergency.

All the best.
